The band was formed in 2011 in Arlington, Texas, with vocalists Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Matt Sallee, and Kevin Olusola and they are known for their “pop-style arrangements with vocal harmonies, scat singing, riffing, vocal percussion, and beatboxing” that makes their cover songs a dream, a whisper, and a prayer. 

The group competed in The Sing-Off in 2011 and won the third season, becoming a favorite band everywhere. Some of their well-loved songs include covers like ‘Little Drummer Boy,’ and a powerful version of ‘Mary Did You Know.’ 

As they sing, I can’t help but think of how often we feel the need to fill every moment with words, with noise, with something to avoid the discomfort of silence. But what if it’s in the quiet spaces where we find God’s presence the most? What if it’s in the moments when everything else stops, when we let go of our need to control the noise, that we finally hear Him? Like when the Pentatonix sing, “People hearing without listening, People writing songs that voices never shared, And no one dared, Disturb the sound of silence.”

Sometimes, in the noise of life, God’s voice can seem distant. But in the stillness, in the silence, He speaks to us in ways that are undeniable. It’s like a deep breath before a new beginning. There are moments when the music is so full of heart that it seems to take you back in time to simpler days, to a place where everything feels warm and familiar. That’s exactly what happened when this teen quartet performed a beautiful a cappella take on ‘Breaking Up Is Hard to Do.’ 

The Lover Girls, a talented teen quartet, took the stage at the 2025 Junior Quartet Contest! Dressed head to toe in vibrant pink, their outfits a perfect nod to the style of the fifties, these girls embodied the era in every note they sang. The pastel pink skirts twirled, their bouncy curls perfectly styled, and as they harmonized, the room was instantly transported to a time when sock hops and jukeboxes ruled the scene.

The girls participated in a contest held by the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS), originally known as the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA), and their YouTube channel is captioned, “Our mission is to enrich lives through singing. Together, making the music that's making a difference.”

With a pitch-perfect blend of sweet harmonies, these teen voices wove together a melody so smooth that you could almost feel the twinkle of a neon sign reflecting off the polished diner floor. They brought something fresh yet timeless to the song, their youthful energy infusing it with a sense of playfulness while still capturing the bittersweet sting of the lyrics. 

You couldn’t help but smile, maybe even feel a little nostalgic for a time you never lived or a love you never knew. And as they sang, it was clear—these girls weren’t just performing. They were inviting you into their world, where every note was a window into something more about singing a cappella.

A contestant wows all four judges on The Voice with an “I Say a Little Prayer” cover. Some artists are so legendary that covering one of their songs is usually a bad move, especially when trying to win a spot on a show like American Idol or The Voice. It's probably a better idea to play it safe early and then try to knock it out of the park later in the competition. You have to get on the show first before you can compete later, right?

However, some aspiring musicians who appear on popular singing shows refuse to play it safe. They think, "Go big or go home.” That has to be the case whenever they’re trying to cover a song made famous by the legendary Aretha Franklin.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Conor James performs “Say a Little Prayer” during his blind audition. From the opening moments of his audition, he impressed the judges almost instantly. Kelsea Ballerini responded with “Oh” after hearing the song he had selected for his audition. Moments later, Michael Bublé said, “I like it already.”

From the judges’ initial thoughts and reactions, it was clear that Conor would be on the show. However, how many judges would flip their chairs around for him remained unclear.

John Legend and Michael hit their buttons, flipping their chairs around nearly simultaneously. Adam Levine would come next, followed by Kelsea.

After his performance, the judges gave Conor their best pitches and complimented him. In the end, Conor selected Adam as his coach.

Conor is someone likely to go deep into the competition. He has a stunning voice!

The second Bryson Battle began to sing, something in the air changed. It wasn’t just his voice—though that alone was enough to stop time. This contestant’s show-stopping audition earned a 4-chair turn on The Voice.

‘A Song For You,’ originally sung by Donny Hathaway, has been a favorite love song ever since it was released in 1970 on Leon Russell’s first album. Since then, it has been a beloved cover for musicians everywhere. Donny Hathaway picked up the song in 1971 and created a new experience with different instruments for the music. It was the perfect song for Bryson to sing to connect with the audience and judges.  

One fan wrote that he went to high school with Bryson and how he was so proud to see him on stage. He said, “I went to High School with this man. While we haven’t kept in touch after I graduated, I’ve always remembered Bryson for his kindness and soul, and that shines through his absolutely STUNNING performance here. Bryson, I am so so SO proud of you, you are going to CRUSH this season.”

Another music fan added, “That opening riff blew my mind. So fluid, gave me chills. He milked every moment. Beautiful falsetto runs and rich chest vocals. Very nice.”

Those shows, in one form or another, have been on for decades, as is the case with American Idol. It has to be that people love watching people succeed and seeing undiscovered thrive and prosper on national television.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Jordan Allen, a 30-year-old singer from London, Kentucky, stunned on The Voice. It was an awesome performance of a song loved by many. Jordan showed off his immense musical talent during his noteworthy performance of “Old Time Rock and Roll.”

Seconds into his superb performance, Jordan had all four judges swaying and dancing in their seats. All four – Michael Bublé, John Legend, Adam Levine and Kelsea Ballerini – loved his song choice. It’s a song contestants on popular competitive singing programs do not often select.

Jordan’s smooth, crisp, and clear country-sounding voice was enough for Michael to stand up and hit his buzzer for the young man. John Legend soon followed, striking his button, which caused his chair to turn. The studio audience was in complete agreement with John and Michael. Throughout Jordan’s stunning performance, they stood and shouted with approval at what they were hearing.

Love is and continues to be a fertile subject for singers, songwriters and authors. For years, those in the arts have been creating content on and about love. Love is such a universal emotion and feeling that it is easy to connect with an audience or a reader whenever addressing that topic. It’s something that we have all experienced and felt.

However, while love stories, romantic comedies and things of that nature are popular, they pale in comparison to love songs. Nearly every song written and recorded is about love in one way or another, including Paul Anka’s classic “Put Your Head on My Shoulder.” That song is a classic for a reason. It’s so beautifully written and performed. It’s easily one of the greatest love songs of all time.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Life in 3D, the group of three siblings covers the Paul Anka song. To say that they knock their rendition out of the park would be to put it lightly. These three young people, as they have done so many times before, show they are musically gifted, and blessed with voices from the heavens.  

Even if you aren’t a fan of the original song, you cannot deny that these young people sound terrific. These three could likely sing the phone book and make it worthy of being listened to repeatedly. This is outstanding.

Also, as the video’s description mentions, this song holds a special meaning to the three. They write that the Paul Anka song was one of their “grandpa Jim’s favorite songs, and it reminds us of him.”

There’s something about an old song, reborn. It’s a reminder of the past memories made with the song and the present coming together. And maybe that’s why this stunning doo-wop cover of Cher’s classic  ‘Believe’ by Robyn Adele Anderson makes you sit up a little straighter, makes your heart tap along with the rhythm, and makes you grin at the sheer brilliance of it all.

It starts with the harmonies—how they wrap around you like a warm summer evening, the sound of a jukebox humming in the corner of a 1960s soda shop. This is by far the cutest thing you will see all day. Buckle up and prepare to be delighted as a man serendates sweet pup with the beloved Toy Story tune, ‘You’ve Got a Friend In Me.’ Sometimes, the most beautiful connections are the ones that need no words—just a melody, a gentle touch, and a love that runs deep. One man and his husky, Millie, reminded the world of that simple truth in a video that has melted hearts everywhere.

In the clip, a man begins to strum the beloved Toy Story classic as Millie nestles close, her soft paws resting tenderly on the guitar. There’s a stillness in her posture, a kind of peaceful joy that tells you she isn’t just listening—she’s feeling every note. And when love is this pure, even a song becomes a shared language. She may not understand all the words, but somehow, her heart does. 

The internet was quick to fall in love with Millie’s reaction. One commenter wrote, "Millie has to be an angel in the form of a dog... there’s no doubt about it." Another noticed the way "she stroked the guitar with her paw," calling it adorable and heart-melting.

Chicago wows with ‘Saturday In The Park’ performance on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.’ One of the reasons people love to watch the Kelly Clarkson show is because of her reliability and charm. She has a down-to-earth personality, and she’s humble, sweet, and kind. Another reason they love to watch is because of her segment of “Kellyoke” as in karaoke. 

Kelly will sing songs from across all genres, from worship to country. And she doesn’t forget the classics by some of the greatest artists of our time, from Elvis Presley to Hank Williams. But today she did something completely different and I have a feeling you will love it. 

Instead of performing herself, she invited Chicago onto her show to perform. And perform they did! They had the crowd clapping and swaying to the beat of their all-time famous song, ‘Saturday In The Park.’ It was released in 1972 for their Album Chicago V. It became so popular that it topped the charts at number three on the Billboard Hot 100!

We all hold a special place in our hearts for this song. And fans online took to the internet about the performance. One fan wrote, “My wife and I have seen these guys perform live several times. Always a Fantastic show!  If you get the chance to see them perform live go, you will not be disappointed!” Another added, “I remember when I was 10 years old, moving out of state with a Walkman and my first cassette tape, Chicago 17. I've always been a huge fan of Chicago.”

Nervous Young Woman Stuns with Show-Stopping Rolling Stones Cover

She walked onto the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ stage, shoulders curled in just a little, hands clasped, voice barely above a whisper. But Kathleen Jenkins–this nervous young woman stuns with show-stopping rolling stones cover, ‘Wild Horse.’ 

Her dad said Kathleen began singing at the age of two, “I would push her in her pram, and I would well up every time I’d hear her sing,” her dad said. The hairs on the back of my head stand up, and she makes me feel like I could fly.

She was carrying all the weight of nerves, of uncertainty, of wondering if her voice—her story—was enough. After all, she was just a cleaning lady with a big dream. 

And then, the music began. 

A single breath, and then the song swelled up from somewhere deep, deep within her. It was the kind of sound that makes a soul still, the kind that hushes the restless heart and says, listen.

This is what it is to pour out from the depths. This is what it is to lay bare the heart, to offer up what’s been hidden away, to release every note like a prayer. Tears pooled in the eyes of judges and audience alike. Because they saw it, they felt it—something sacred. How many times had she cleaned floors, scrubbed corners, washed away the ordinary dirt of everyday life, while this—this—was inside of her, waiting for the moment to be seen, to be heard?

And isn’t that the way of God? That He hides the most radiant gifts in the humblest of places, that He plants the most stunning beauty in the unseen, that He takes a woman who thought she was just a cleaner and reveals her as a song.

And as the final note hung in the air, a breathless hush fell over the room—before erupting into thunderous applause. The judges, stunned, fumbled for words, their expressions a mirror of what we all felt—utter astonishment at the beauty that had just unfolded. 

Kathleen Jenkins, the quiet cleaning lady who had walked onto that stage with uncertainty, had just given us a moment we would never forget. She poured her heart out, and in doing so, she showed us something sacred, something breathtaking. A voice and a gift, leaving us in awe, hearts swelling with the wonder of it all.

PS22 Chorus Beautiful Cover of Backstreet Boys’ ‘As Long As You Love Me'

Check out this beautiful group of kids of PS22 Chorus as they deliver an incredible cover of ‘As Long As You Love Me,’ by the Backstreet Boys! The group of 60-70 fifth graders will knock your socks off. Not only do they sound fabulous, they are an absolute joy to watch. Their gestures and expressions illustrate the passion they have for music. And, wow, what a wonderful passion to possess!

These super-talented kids attend Public School 22, which is located in Graniteville, Stanton Island in New York. PS22 Chorus was founded by choir director and music teacher Gregg Breinberg, and it has been going strong since he started working at the school in 2000. 

In the video, choir members—most of whom are 10 years old—sing the 1997 hit single, ‘As Long As You Love Me.’ And while the singers were all born about twenty years after the Backstreet Boys came to fame, they are big fans of the group. 

The text beneath the video reads, “My PS22 friends and colleagues are hands down some of the biggest ‪@backstreetboys‬ fans out there! We did this for THEM and as a thank you to Backstreet Boy Kevin Scott Richardson for following the kids and for his consistently awesome feedback on their Instagram videos! As a "class act" themselves, the kids (and Ms. Lisa and I) know one when we see one!!”  

As the video begins, Director Breinberg, dressed in a tie-dyed sweatshirt, smiles and plays the piano. The nameplate atop the piano reads “Chaos Coordinator.” That gives an indication of his sense of humor and fun, and it certainly appears to be present among his students!

The tween musicians use their mouths, eyes, faces, and hands to communicate the words they sing. They point inward and outward, make heart shapes with their hands, write in the air, clap their heads, swirl their crazy fingers, grab their eyeglasses, and dance in their seats. One hilarious group member wears a lobster on their head. What a hoot! 

The creative chaos of this incredible chorus has made them very famous! PS22 Chorus has appeared on the Oscars, Oprah, Nightline, Sesame Street, Good Morning America, and more. The group has sung with Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Katy Perry, and others. And, they’ve performed for former President Obama!
