The reference to "We see through a glass darkly," can be found in the First Epistle in Paul's letters to the Corinthians, in the New Testament. In the context of this song we are reminded that if we try to see through an obscure piece of glass, our vision will be clouded and imperfect. We can go through life avoiding truth, and honesty. Sometimes we misunderstand the sensitive individuals who are brave enough to see past the darkness and seek authenticity. The song was released in 1996 by Larnelle Harris, Bill, and Gloria Gaither on their album ‘Homecoming Texas Style.’ The song follows the life of Jesus from the moment he was lying in a manger to the moment He conquered the grave. The song reminds us of who our Jesus is and how through Christ, we can overcome the struggles we face. 

The music video was recently taken out of the vault and posted to YouTube, garnering thousands of views and comments. One viewer couldn’t help but compliment Wintley’s voice, “He does a beautiful job on this song thank you for singing. You have a  beautiful voice. Thank God Almighty, Amen!”  

Other viewers who have been fans of Wintley since the 1980s were impressed with his performance. One viewer added, “He still has it. Amen!”  Another viewer added what the meaning of the word ‘amen’ means and commented, “Praise the Lord! Amen means “so be it” believe your prayers are heard by God! They are! Amen, amen, and amen.”

At the start of this video, we see a live audience viewing a performance by country star, Gene Watson. He begins as the crowd is seated at dinner tables with food to enjoy during the show. As he begins the performance, the people cheer and clap for Gene. He begins to sing out the gospel.

The chorus says:

“Jesus say father forgive them
He was looking down on me
I'm an old Roman soldier
I stood at the foot of the tree”

Gene released “Old Roman Soldier” in 2017. He is now 80 years old, and this man sounds amazing. He has taken such good care of his voice. He is clearly a very talented individual who knows what life is truly about. He is using his talents to point others to the hope that they can have in Jesus. 

These lyrics are empowering and cause us to reflect on the perspective of the Roman soldier who stood next to Jesus as He died on the cross for our sins. This creates a visual for us through a song of what it might have been like for this man as he literally was standing next to the innocent and perfect Savior of the world as He took His last breath. 

The storytelling style of country music, paired with the Biblically supported lyrics, is a powerful testimony of the gospel. There is hope for all of us because of Jesus. He is the One who saves and rescues us, and His sacrifice was sufficient. We can celebrate and reflect on this hope as we listen.

This is a music video for "Yeshua is my Messiah". The song is about how Christ came to show the way to the God. He lived as an example for all of us, was crucified, dying for the sins of the world. He then rose to life and ascended to Heaven. Christ will come again to judge the world, reigning for a thousand years. Jesus is surely the Messiah, fully man and fully God. I hope you enjoy this meaningful and soulful Reggae song.

In Exodus 3:14, God said to Moses, "I AM THAT I AM." I have contemplated how the great I AM, who has always been and always will be, became a tiny human Baby inside a humble virgin. God is almighty beyond our comprehension, but it is good for us to contemplate. I have shared in this song only a very few aspects of this great I AM who humbled Himself to show us His love and save us. I pray that as you listen to this song I wrote in 2016, that you will be in awe of who Jesus, our Creator, Savior, and great I AM really is.
