There's a Lesson for Us in "Captain America: Civil War"

“I'm going, but I don't want to see 'my friends' fight," said my companion. The battles are epic and the quips keep coming, but this dark story opens a wound in Team Avengers that may never completely heal. By all means see it, but expect to come away a little heart-heavy.

"Mother's Day" Makes Being a Mom Even More Complicated

This is, then, a movie that has some admirable things to say about moms and rightly recognizes the hugely important role they play in shaping their children's lives. That said, Mother's Day embraces every permutation of how motherhood can occur

"Ratchet & Clank" a Total Clunker

If The Lego Movie and Paddington showed the right way to adapt family movies from pre-existing properties, Rachet & Clank, pointlessly plotted with no one to root for in a low-stakes story, demonstrates how wrong it can go. Bring a watch—you'll be checking it often.

No Fairy Tale Magic for "The Huntsman: Winter's War"

Three of our finest actresses join Chris Hemsworth for a tale of what occurred before Snow White and the Huntsman, as well as the events that followed it. But this strange prequel-sequel hybrid has a restless, hodgepodge quality that doesn't create a happily-ever-after feeling.

Missteps Aside, Disney's "Jungle Book" Remake is CGI Done Right

Different in tone from the 1967 original, and nowhere near the bar set by 2015’s Cinderella remake, The Jungle Book charges full-speed toward one central theme: survival. The Odyssey-like structure is easy to follow for young viewers, while the darker and more mature elements hold the attention of parents

God’s Not Dead 2 Offers a Powerful Message

For all its faults, God's Not Dead 2 does a solid job in making its arguments onscreen.  Believers will be pleased.

Batman v Superman Falls Short of Victory

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice delivers an epic showdown as promised, but not before lulling viewers to sleep with a tedious, brooding lecture on the nature of gods and power.

Same Greeks, Different "Big Fat Wedding", Fewer Laughs

We all loved My Big Fat Greek Wedding for its loud charm and its unique spin on the rom-com. But without much ground to break "17 years later but still living on the same street," the sequel hinges almost entirely on homages to its predecessor.

Sneak Peek: "God's Not Dead 2"

Featuring an all-star cast, GOD’S NOT DEAD 2—the highly anticipated sequel to the hit movie of 2014—opens in theaters April 1, 2016.

We have an advanced sneak peek with this official movie trailer!

"Allegiant" Takes a Half-Step for Halfway-There YA Finales

Must all franchise finales be divided into two parts? The Divergent Series: Allegiant—Part 1 halts the downward slide in quality of these drawn out concluding entries. It's not great, but it's a small step up from the dreary Hunger Games finale.

"Miracles from Heaven" Will Make You Smile

Thanks to strong performances, a story that's funny and touching in turns, and an uplifting message, all but the most cynical will leave the theater with a fresh appreciation for everyday, out-of-the ordinary miracles.

"The Young Messiah": Compassionate Drama Imagines Jesus' Early Life

There are scant stories about Jesus' youth and upbringing, which leads one to wonder what Jesus was like as a young boy and if his future greatness was foreshadowed during those youthful days.

Based on the novel by Anne Rice, the new film The Young Messiah attempts to explore that idea.

Disney's "Zootopia" Delivers a Roaring Good Time

Beneath its sunny exterior, Zootopia is a thoughtful film about the dangers of prejudice and its far-reaching effects on our community. Though a little heavy-handed at times, the film's animated charm never gets lost in the message

Sneak Peek: "The Young Messiah" Relates Unique Biblical Account

The Young Messiah tells the story of Jesus Christ at age seven as He and his family depart Egypt to return back home to Nazareth. Told from the unique perspective of His childhood, The Young Messiah follows young Jesus as He grows into his religious identity and prophetic role.

Coming to theaters March 11th, 2016.

"Eddie the Eagle" Soars Thanks to a Winning Performance

A true underdog story of hope and perseverance in the face of insurmountable odds. Those unfamiliar with the Winter Olympics may find a few baffling moments in Eddie the Eagle, but they're not enough to derail this delightful sports dramedy.

"Gods of Egypt" Can't Even Ascend to Guilty Pleasure Status

A bizarre excursion into big-budget moviemaking gone completely off the rails, Gods of Egypt is a bungled, boring, monotonous amalgam of 300 and Lord of the Rings that implodes into a "What were they thinking?!" train wreck

"Risen" Brings New Life to Christian Movies

This tale of faith and redemption marks a new chapter for Christian films. While not perfect, Risen still delivers one of the best portrayals of Christ's death and resurrection to date, as we witness the events from the eyes of a pagan outsider.

This "Race" Finishes with Substance & Heart

The athletic achievements of Olympic legend Jesse Owens are nothing short of remarkable, but Race is so much more than your average sports movie or celebrity biopic. It's a very human story about social marginalization that, sadly, still resonates.

Celebrity-Filled Zoolander 2 Models Questionable Humor

A fun bit of fluff that skewers pop culture and the fashion industry in a celebrity-studded romp, Zoolander 2 is gloriously silly, but probably not the best choice for the easily offended. 3 out of 5.
