Lesley Hemphill met Dakota when he was just 15 years old. They met at Tulsa Boys' Home where Lesley was a volunteer mentor. Dakota had been at the residential treatment facility for troubled young boys in Oklahoma after his biological parents lost custody of him for abuse and other things.
The pair clicked as soon as they met and Lesley felt a motherly bond towards him. Eventually, she was able to officially adopt Dakota and it's been a blessing ever since.
