"Speak Freely, Speak Fully," Acts 18:1-17, Rev. R. Scott MacLaren, 11/30/2014

There are many efforts to suppress Christian witness in our modern world. Those attacks, whether by intimidation, mockery, or legal threat, may indeed discourage the Christian from testifying to the grace and righteousness of God. But we should not be silent! Watch as Pastor MacLaren shows from Acts 18:1-17, how God encourages his servants to speak freely and fully in the opportunities he brings to them. This sermon was preached at First Presbyterian Church in Perkasie, PA on November 30, 2014. First Church is a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. The Rev. R. Scott MacLaren is the pastor.

The legend of the "jolly old man" we all know as Santa Claus takes on new meaning as we learn the true story of St. Nicholas of Myra and his generous nature.

12-7-14 MESSAGE: "Home, Sweet Home"

Pastor Charles delivered a very uplifting and inspiring message about the nature of heaven! The Lord has promised that He was going to prepare a place for us! But what exactly will that place be like? By the end of this message you will look forward to one day going "Home Sweet Home!"

1 John 4:1-10

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

The Bible and the Armor Bearer

Is there a clear biblical position justifying the use of armor bearers in teh church? In my research and study, there is no support for that position. This video offers Old Testament evidence that lends no support for the office as it is used today.
Look for part two where New Testament evidence is sited that does not lend support for the armor bearer.

1 John 3:13-24

13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. 20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

"Our First Parents," WCF 6:1, Rev. R. Scott MacLaren, First OPC Perkasie, PA

The BioLogos group is seeking to persuade pastors to support an evolutionary view of human origins, suggesting that if Adam and Eve did exist, they were one of thousands of people from whom we all evolved. This viewpoint, supported by some very powerful influences, is in direct contrast with the clear teaching of the Bible and the historic confession of the church. Watch as Pastor MacLaren comments on the Westminster Confession of Faith, 6:1, as it begins a discussion on the origins of human sin and misery. This commentary was provided during the Sunday Worship Service of First Presbyterian Church in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, on November 30, 2014. First Church is a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. The Rev. R. Scott MacLaren is the pastor.

Lord, I Thank You!

In this message of Thanksgiving, Pastor Jeff shares how thankfulness is tied to the power that we have. Just as Jesus knew what He did for the 10 lepers, He knows what He has done for you. It would be wise to come on back and say, "Lord, I Thank You!" For other videos or more information on the ministry, visit www.ongoodground.org

What's Love

Agape - Godly love.
Eros - Romantic / Marriage.
Phileo - Brotherly love.
Storge - Attachment kind of love.

Love says you are also loving the law of God. If you love someone you would not lie on them, you would not commit adultery, you would not covet anything that they have, you would not steal from them...

Sin weakens your resolve on love. Anything that you do should be unto God, not for man to get recognition. If you are making your love a conditional thing you hold back in your giving and you life for God...

We don't love like God says love. One way you show the world how you love, is by the way you love God. When you keep the word of God, it is perfection in love.

By the love you have one to another. How is it that God loves you but you don't love someone else? If God loves you in your mess, why can't you love someone else in there mess? And you say that you have God in you? You can't love someone else, you can't forgive others? If you want people to see that you love God, you have to start showing love. If you read the Bible you start living the Bible. When you show love to your enemy you are showing an inward conversion of your heart and not just "lip service"

And by loving you show the world that you have been born again in Christ Jesus
