Zachary Levi and Patricia Heaton discussed “The Unbreakable Boy” and trusting God in an interview on The Today Show. The two actors discussed their latest film and how all of us must come to the point where we accept and trust God’s plan for our lives. Everyone has things they want to do and accomplish in life. We all have plans and goals. But as the popular saying mentions, God tends to get a good laugh out of hearing about our plans. We can be the most organized, driven person, but life often has other ideas.

In a clip posted on YouTube, Zachary and Patricia discuss their powerful, moving new film, “The Unbreakable Boy,” about a child with autism and brittle bone disease. Despite his conditions and the less-than-loving treatment he receives from others, the little guy has an unshakable optimism and chooses to see the best in everything and everyone.

Zachary mentioned he believes the film is about accepting and coming to terms with God’s plan for your life, a message desperately needed today.

“I think it’s about radically accepting where you are in your life, radically accepting the life that God has given you, radically surrendering to that life, which is so difficult,” he said. “We all struggle with this, you know? It’s like we have this idea of what we think of what our life is supposed to be, and when it’s not coming out to be that, we fight and we wrestle.”

Zachary added that there is so much love, joy and peace in accepting the life that God has given us.

Later in the clip, Patricia mentioned that parents often have ideas and preconceived notions of who their children should be, but those ideas do not often match up with who they are intended to be.

As the Bible mentions, God provides a peace that surpasses all understanding. Life will not always go our way, but we must realize He is still in control even in those scary, unpredictable moments.

Bestselling author Karen Kingsbury’s beloved novel Someone Like You has made its way to the screen, now streaming on Great American Pure Flix and set to premiere on Great American Family on Saturday, Feb. 22. The highly anticipated film, which also had a theatrical release last year, brings Kingsbury’s signature heartfelt storytelling to life, captivating both longtime fans and newcomers to her work.

We recently caught up with Karen Kingsbury to discuss the film adaptation, its journey from page to screen, and the personal connections that made the project even more special.

For those unfamiliar with Someone Like You, Kingsbury shared the essence of the story: a moving tale of love, faith and redemption. The film follows a young woman who discovers shocking truths about her past, setting her on a path of self-discovery and healing.

The adaptation was particularly meaningful as the film was the debut project Kingsbury produced through her own production company, alongside her son, Tyler Russell.

One of the most personal aspects of the film’s production was the involvement of Kingsbury’s son, Tyler Russell, who played a key role in making the movie a reality. Kingsbury also spoke about why Pure Flix and Great American Family were the ideal homes for Someone Like You.

With Someone Like You now available on Pure Flix and its upcoming TV premiere on Great American Family, Kingsbury’s storytelling continues to touch hearts, inspiring audiences with a message of faith and redemption.

Legendary entertainer Dick Van Dyke reflected on his role in the iconic and classic movie “Mary Poppins,” meeting Walt Disney and his reaction to hearing the music from the film. He talked about his encounter with the man responsible for dozens of beloved films and the world’s most famous theme parks. Dick also shared how they were both alike in one extraordinary way.

Dick Van Dyke has enjoyed a long and storied career. He is one of those people that everyone seems to love. How could you not? He has appeared in some of the most memorable films and television shows in history, including The Dick Van Dyke Show, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Mary Poppins.” They are likely ones that you return to repeatedly.

Now, in his late 90s and on the 60th anniversary of “Mary Poppins,” Dick sat down to talk about and reflect on the film about the magical nanny. In the clip posted on YouTube, Dick mentions that he was unsure why Walt Disney wanted him to play Bert. But Chris Connelly, the person interviewing Dick, has a pretty good idea why Walt might have chosen him.

Chris pointed to a 1962 interview in which Dick said he wanted to make movies that he could take his kids to see and about how much he appreciated Walt Disney’s work.

Later in the clip, Dick said that he and Walt became fast friends for one big but important reason.

“When I met Walt, we hit it right off,” Dick said. “We both admitted that we just pretended to be grown-up and that we were still kids.”

Dick added that when he first heard the music for “Mary Poppins,” he became emotional.

“I couldn’t believe it - one tune after another,” he said. “And I just, I wept. It was just the most beautiful thing I ever heard.”

“Mary Poppins” is a beloved film that holds a special place in many people’s hearts, and it sounds like it does in Dick’s as well.

Members of the cast and crew behind the film “Unsung Hero” discussed some of what it took and meant to bring the story to the big screen.

Every year, hundreds of films open and play in theaters. While that may sound like a large number and many viewing options at the cinema, it’s a drop in the bucket regarding the number of films produced and released each year. 

Thanks to the popularity of streaming services, there are more viewing options now than ever. So, instead of going to the theater, some movies will go directly to Netflix, Hulu, or some other streaming platform. Additionally, after they are finished, other films may sit on the shelves for whatever reason and never see the light of day. 

It stands to reason that the Hollywood films that go into theaters do so because they are expected to do well financially. Those deciding what film goes where believe a movie will be a hit, pleasing a specific demographic. 

One of those films that is coming to theaters is “Unsung Hero.” It’s a film based on the unbelievable true story of the early struggles of the Smallbone family. It includes famous Christian musicians Rebecca St. James and her brothers, Joel and Luke, who are the duo for King & Country.

In a video posted on YouTube, members of the cast and the people behind the scenes talk about what the film’s story of faith and reliance upon God during troubling situations means to them. After watching the movie, they also talk about what they want to come away with.

“Having heard the music, having watched the scenes, I think people are going to take away hope from this film,” Candace Cameron Bure said, who has a role in the movie.

Rated PG, “Unsung Hero” hits theaters on April 26.

The new film “Journey to Bethlehem,” a musical, tells the remarkable story of the birth of Jesus Christ but also focuses some of its attention on the other people who were vitally important in pulling off that world-changing miracle, including Joseph.

Joseph, of course, was the husband of Mary and the earthly father of Jesus. But before taking Mary as his wife, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. Joseph was told to take Mary as his wife, and that the child in her was of the Holy Spirit. Joseph was also to name the baby Emmanuel. 

Joseph, like Mary, was given a tall task. It would have required Joseph to possess a lot of faith and trust in the Lord to fulfill the job at hand. In the new film, “Journey to Bethlehem,” Joseph is played by Milo Manheim. 

Milo, in a clip posted on YouTube, talked about his role as Joseph and how he came to realize that Joseph is essentially a normal, average human being. He was just willing to listen and be a faithful and committed servant of the Lord. 

“I had this idea of who Joseph needed to be, and then I got here, and I realized, he’s just a guy,” he said. “He’s just a guy that has no idea what he’s doing.”

Later in the clip, Milo mentions how playing the Earthly father of Jesus Christ has personally changed him.

“This story has changed me in so many ways,” Milo said. “It’s made me think differently about my life. It’s been, it’s been incredible, and I, my number one priority was to honor this story. And while Joseph is fun, and enthusiastic and a funny guy, I wanted to do him justice.”

He added that it “has been an incredible honor” to play Joseph and be a part of the film “Journey to Bethlehem.”

Matthew 1:20 “But while he thought on these things, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, ‘Joseph, son of David, have no fear of taking Mary as your wife; because that which is in her body is of the Holy Spirit.”

If you haven’t already been anxiously awaiting this year’s newest big-screen holiday film, this behind-the-scenes interview with For King and Country’s Joel Smallbone, who plays Antipater in Journey to Bethlehem, will definitely get you there!

Joel Smallbone is one half of the Australian-American Christian pop duo For King and Country; his brother, Luke Smallbone, is the other. Here, Joel discusses his role as Antipater in the upcoming movie Journey to Bethlehem.    

Most folks, including believers, are familiar with For King and Country, but we may not recognize the name Antipater. Journey to Bethlehem introduces a new character to the eternally true Bible story of the birth of Jesus. There’s Mary, Joseph, Herod, and Joel’s Antipater. The actor speculates that his character, the eldest son of King Herod, may have also been the first convert of Jesus. That’s definitely intriguing!

Alex Anders, the music supervisor for the film, says that Joel was selected for his “amazing vocal chops,” and he shares that the first concert he took his kids to was one of For King and Country’s. He’s been a fan for a long time! 

We see snippets of two of Joel’s songs. Of those, Joel states that “In My Blood” is a very emotional song, and the other is quite funny. The second is sung alongside the amazing Antonio Banderas, who plays the hateful King Herod.

Moriah Peters Smallbone talks about her absolute admiration for her husband’s skill, ability, heart, and work ethic. She is often on the set watching him portray Antipater, and she plays the part of Deborah in the movie. Moriah mentions Joel’s experience with NSYNC choreography and moves, but her husband was never a member of that group. One commenter helps clear up the mystery by writing that there are videos of Joel practicing NSYNC’s dances as a teen. It appears that practice has come in handy!

With gifted actors and musicians, epic scenes and costumes, and a story better than any other, this movie is sure to be one wonderfully special addition to Christmas 2023! 

“Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.” Matthew 2:16

This is a compelling movie trailer as Antonio Banderas introduces us to King Herod from Journey to Bethlehem. 

In this interview, we get to see clips from the upcoming Christmas movie, Journey to Bethlehem. Antonio describes what it was like for him to play the role of King Herod. He talks about how he is evil and power-hungry. 

He describes Herod as “emotionally unstable with tremendous power.” The producers share the excitement of having Antonio on the film through the faith-based production company Affirm Films. They say that Antonio has one of the best songs in the movie.

Antonio reveals that he is a lover of musical theater, and it drew him to acting in a lot of ways. He reveals that he owns a theater. He says that he is performing in more shows on a live theater stage than in movies or television. Antonio says that there is only one who will be triumphant in this movie, it is Jesus.

Journey to Bethlehem looks appealing and inspiring for the entire family. The music is powerful, the acting is top-notch. There appears to be romance, humor, and adventure. It is always encouraging to see a big-name actor like Banderas in a film of faith. It creates hope that a new audience will witness the true story of the birth of Christ and learn of the purpose of God coming to earth to save us from our sins. 

As you watch this interview, you cannot help but get excited for the Christmas season around the corner. However, we can celebrate Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection every day. 

May this remind us to prepare our hearts for rejoicing this season, but also to share this good news of hope with others each day. Jesus is the One true king, and in seeing this villain on the big screen, may it remind us that no one is greater than our God.

Christian, musician and actor Lecrae, one of the stars of the upcoming film “Journey to Bethlehem,” talked about this role and what he hopes people take away from the movie.

Hollywood is not a place and an industry known for being especially welcoming of those who openly express and talk about their Christian views and beliefs. In fact, most of the films and television shows they produce push a point of view that is directly against or opposed to Christian beliefs. But one film, scheduled to come out before the end of the year, goes against that trend.

“Journey to Bethlehem” is a musical that tells the true story of Christmas. It follows Mary and Joseph as they make their way to Bethlehem, where they cannot find a room, resulting in the eventual birth of the Savior of the world in a lowly manger. 

The movie stars several recognizable people, including Antonio Banderas as the evil King Herod. Another one of those familiar faces who appears in the film is actor and musician Lecrae. The Grammy Award-winning musician, who plays the angel Gabriel, recently sat down and talked about his role in “Journey to Bethlehem” and expressed his excitement about the project.

“I was ecstatic when I found out I got the role for Gabriel,” he said. “I was just over the moon because I knew Adam’s (one of the film’s producers) work and everything that he’s been involved in and the high-caliber level of it. And then the script was phenomenal.”

He later added that he enjoyed playing Gabriel because of how significant and crucial he was to the birth of Jesus Christ. He was the angel sent by God to inform Mary that she would give birth to the person who would save people from their sins. 

The clip ends with Lecrae stating what he believes and hopes people who watch the film get from the musical about the birth of Christ.

“I think people will walk away feeling hopeful and full of joy,” he said. “It speaks to a young audience who is wrestling with their purpose and their worth and their value and their meaning.”

“Journey to Bethlehem is rated PG and opens in theaters on Nov. 10.
