Poem written from a dream my Mother had about her Mom.

This is a promotional video made to encourage church involvement at Grace Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It plays on the popularity of the Disney movie Frozen and the Oscar winning song, Let It Go.

Here is the official lyric video for my song "In Their Place" off my 2008 "Coffee Shop Songs" CD. This song tells the Easter story from Jesus' point of view as he prays in the garden and then proceeds to his death on the cross and resurrection with the empty tomb. The title comes from Jesus cry to the Father to "take me in their place."

This song was produced by my good friend Nick Garrett-Powell in our first project together and he also plays some nylon string guitar and sings amazing harmonies as well! This is my 3rd official lyric video that I have produced myself so I hope you enjoy it!

Another chapter in my Musical Book!

This song is in memory of my grandmother
Loretta Dorval whom we called Memere. She
passed away many years ago but I will always
remember her words she spoke to me.

Maybe You have heard the saying that women's
work is never done!

Well, whenever I use to complain about doing
housework, or the long hours when my babies
were born, Memere use to tell me what she did
to make the housework fun. That is to sing, and
her canary would sing with her, dance, whistle,
or be creative and make it fun. Great wisdom I
have tried to live by! I still have not mastered
how to whistle though LOL!!
Thanks to my husband Gordon E. Conn for his
special effects with the whistle!!!

There are many good songs in Norway that deserve a wider audience, but don't get one because of the language barrier. This video is a little step to give people a chance to appreciate them.
Hilde L. Halvorsens song "Jesus Hvem er Som Du?" ("Jesus Who is like you") was written in 2011 and translated last summer. Translating songs properly is a complicated process as the original has to be done justice to, at the same time as the result needs to be singable and avoid ending up a rag-bag of clichés. The song-writer has to be happy with the result as well, as they have the copyright to the song and therefore the right of veto on the way you translate it.
After a ping-pong of discussion we came to an agreed solution, and after that came an even longer period trying to put the video together, because some of the visual effects were very demanding indeed, and my ideas were/are way ahead of my command of the techniqus.At the same time I also had to learn how to use Adobe Premier from scratch.
Towards the end is a kind of riddle. The clue to it is in George Herberts poem "The Elixir" from 1633:
" A man that looks on glasse,
On it may stay his eye;
Or if he pleaseth, through it passe,
And then the heav'n espie"

culminates in the poignant
Mariavisen (Norwegian expression meaning "short song about Mary").
This is one of the best songs in the series, but also one of the first I tried my hand at making. The quality therefore left much to be desired.

The very word "Jesus" means "Jehovah Salvation." There is no greater name than "Jesus Christ." Through this great name comes salvation, healing, peace, victory, joy, fulfillment, Eternal life, and so much more. There are several Scriptures concerning the Name of the Lord:
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe."
"If we call upon the name of the Lord, we shall be saved."
"There is no greater name given under Heaven whereby we can be saved, other than the Name of Jesus Christ."
"And His Name was called the Word of God."
"And He shall be called, 'Emmanuel (God with us)."
And the list goes on and on and on.
There's just something about speaking the name of Jesus which causes an atmosphere of peace, especially in the midst of trouble.

The musical was first performed in autumn 1975
for an audience of about 300 about and later
for about 5000 at a KFUM gathering in Skien.
Since then it has been performed fairly
regularly in different parts of the country by
different groups. The English translation,
however, has to our knowledge only been
performed once: by Leikanger Ten-Sing on a tour
to Germany in 1984
This sequence ends at the turning point of the
musical: the Messiah dies on the cross, having
become a curse for us, so we might be bought
back from death through him. On one of the
images I have written at the top (in Hebrew)
the name Jesu (hebrew: the cursed one) and at
the base Deuteronomy 21:23 "because a person
who has been hanged has been cursed by God".
Later the name changes to the correct name of
the Messiah: Jehoshua (which means "God is
Saviour" cf. Matthew 1,22). The Hebrew at the
bottom reads the curse pronounced in the Torah
by becoming cursed on our behalf; for the
Tanakh says, Everyone who hangs from a stake
comes under a curse. (Galatians 3,13)
The song at the end of this particular sequence
is: "if you make his soul". There is not
supposed to be a break between the songs in the
musical, and particularly not this one.

Song part 8 of Via Dolorosa. This is an approximate coordination of the English transalation, with the song as it is sung in Norwegian. The two languages are not really so very different under the surface.
