This 1985 release is credited for being the very first widely published gospel rap song. Back then, Wiley was a youth minister who sought to educate children about the books of the Bible. Note: A University of Oklahoma graduate, Wiley began a career as a jazz drummer in 1979 and wrote a song called "Basketball". This tune would later go on to be recorded by mainstream rapper Kurtis Blow and become a #71 hit (in 1985). Wiley is widely considered the father of Christian rap. He is now a pastor in Tulsa, OK.
