She’s done it again. Anne Wilson’s powerful live performance of ‘The Cross’ will leave you encouraged and uplifted. You would think with a voice like Anne’s that she had dreamed of becoming a singer. Initially, Anne wanted to be an astronaut and work for NASA. She had no plans to do anything to do with music. But that’s not the case. She didn’t sing in public until she was in her early 20s after the tragic passing of her brother. Her brother was killed in a car accident in June of 2017.
She felt led to sing at her brother’s funeral. The music was so powerful it went viral. Clearly, God had other plans for her life. Since then, Anne has been a rising star in the Christian realm. Her music is about keeping our eyes on Christ no matter the struggle or trial.
Her latest song is incredible right from the beginning, she sings:
‘You've been tryin' hard to bear the weight of all your shame
And if there's a God up there, you're sure He forgot your name
When your steps are getting heavy, and hope looks all but lost
Just bring it all to the cross’
What a beautiful reminder we no longer bare the heavy weight of our shame. She points listeners who feel lost to go directly to the cross. But the next chorus line is perhaps the best part of the song. She reminds us of the never ending grace we have in Christ. It doesn’t matter what our past is, we all receive God’s grace. It’s never too late.
We hope this performance serves as a heartfelt reminder you’re never too far to run to the cross and be embraced by God’s grace.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

The incredibly talented Aretha Franklin gave a powerful and moving performance of the beloved hymn “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”
There are some singers and musicians whose talent is so massive, so evident and apparent that their sound will never be able to be replicated or duplicated. The late Aretha Franklin was one of those select few. Her voice was incredibly powerful and unmistakably hers. The second she started singing, you immediately knew who was belting out the lyrics.
Sure, some people may cover her tunes, putting their spin on an Aretha song here and there. Some of them might even be pretty good, but no one will ever be able to outdo Aretha. The woman could flat-out sing, able to reach, hit and hold notes that most vocalists can only dream of singing.
In a clip posted on YouTube, Aretha uses her stunning voice to praise and honor the Lord in a 1972 performance. While performing with a handful of musicians, she sings “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”
“What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer”
The performance is a fantastic, spirited rendition of the classic hymn we all know and love. Aretha, while standing behind the pulpit, belts out the familiar lyrics. It’s stunning how clean and clear she sounds, especially given that this performance is over 50 years old.
At several points throughout the clip, Aretha displays that unique, powerful voice. She reaches back multiple times and hits notes, showing she was blessed with talent and a voice from the heavens.
Churches regularly put together talented praise and worship teams capable of singing nearly every song of praise. But can you imagine going to church one Sunday morning and seeing someone of Aretha’s caliber and talent level join the worship team?
Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
An incredibly talented singer, Sherry Anne, turned in a beautiful and delightful bluegrass performance, singing a medley of two of the most beloved hymns, “At Calvary” and “At the Cross.”
Human beings are a sinful and lost group, which the Bible confirms. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. In Romans, the Bible also states that “there is none righteous, no, not even one.” So, knowing that we are sinners who have willingly turned our backs on God, we honestly deserve death, as the Bible says are the wages of sin.
However, because of God’s immense, never-ending and inexplicable love for us, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to Earth on our behalf. Christ, who willingly went to the cross at Calvary, suffered and died for us. His bloodshed for us at the cross and His resurrection forever and always changed everything for us. We now have a future and hope because of what He did at Calvary and on the cross.
Without what Christ did at Calvary and on the cross, we’d all be without hope and destined to be lost for eternity. So, it would only make sense to pair the tunes “At Calvary” and “At the Cross” together, as Sherry did in a clip posted on YouTube.
This joyous and outstanding musical performance tells of Christ’s unbelievable and awe-inspiring love, mercy and grace. It’s one that you’ll want to return to repeatedly.
Sherry provides a fantastic vocal performance, but the beautiful and powerful lyrics about Christ’s life-changing act of love steal the show. And honestly, how could it not? Christ did for us what we could not do for ourselves. He paid a debt that we will never be able to repay. He offers forgiveness and eternal salvation, gifts that we most certainly do not deserve.
Romans 5:8 “But God has made clear his love to us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
My grandma showed me a picture (At end of video) and asked me to write a song about it. Here is the original song The Cowboy & The Preacher (God's Love Made A Way).
