Small But Mighty (6-29-14)

Pastor Doug tells us more stories from our new series "Tell Me A Story." Jesus talked in parables, and although the mustard seed is small, it grows into a mighty tree. In like manner, we are each called to sow small seeds as part of the Body of Christ.

Growing up, pt. 6: looking to Jesus

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)

Temporary or Eternal joy?

The Daily Pulse (Saturday, November 9, 2013): You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 (NIV)

Pastor Jon Dunbar: "Learning Patience in our Faith"

Reading through the lessons reminds me of the song “O Little Town of Bethlehem” in which we sing, “The hopes and fears of all the years are met in Thee tonight.” That’s a good way to describe our readings; they are a mixed bag of hopes and fears. Isaiah gives us a hopeful scene of miracle healings and joyful singing when Messiah comes. But then Matthew tells us of John the Baptist sitting in a dark and dungy prison cell and expressing doubt and perhaps even disappointment with Jesus. I suspect John thought life would go a little more smoothly for him once the Messiah came. Will this Christmas season be all that you expect it to be? Snow-covered roads, illness, and family squabbles are just a few of the possible disappointments you may face in coming weeks. But these don’t have to threaten your joy at Christmas. Rather than pin all your hopes on a glitch-free holiday season, find your rest in the Savior who sets you free from your sins and heals your soul. You have his forgiveness, his friendship and his love. And that, really, is all any of us needs to have a truly merry Christmas.

Pastor Jon Dunbar: "Baptism Saves You"

Why are we baptised? Baptism lets a Christian know that God is standing next to us always- that is why baptism is so important. Through baptism, God tells us who we are and that we have been saved!

Follow Me... Matthew Followed (6-22-14)

Pastor Doug leads us into our new sermon series, "Tell Me A Story... Earthly Stories with Heavenly Truths." The message deals with mercy & sinners.

The oldest Psalm

The Daily Pulse (Tuesday, June 24, 2014): Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

VBS Rocks!

The Daily Pulse (Monday, June 23, 2014): But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Luke 18:16-17 (NIV)

Driving a Mercedes can be like hypoxia

The Daily Pulse (Sunday, June 22, 2014):The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. Proverbs 16:5 (NIV)

Trimming our Wicks 2

A continuation of last week's sermon we continue learning how to prepare for the return of our King. How will you trim your wick?

Trimming our Wicks

The parable of the ten virgins gives us a picture of preparation for the return of Jesus. What will you be; wise or foolish?

Preparing for the Lord

How do we get ready for the return of our King? What must we do to let others know about Him?

Walking With God

How are our lives blessed? Why does it seem that others have it "more together"?

Our Father

Galatians 2:1-10; 4:1-31

Matthew 6:7-14

We are trying to encourage families to stay together. Man and Woman. Christ Jesus Gives us a novel approach. Teach us how to pray. Pray is communicating, it is talking. Jesus said that when you pray say Our Father.

Abba is a term of reverence, an endearment. A good father know the things that his children need. When you link up with Jesus everything that he has comes along to you. His Father becomes your Father eg. Our Father, you are raised just like one of the family. If you don't except Jesus as your Lord and Savior all you will know is an earthly Father.
You are only a father by the grace of God. God is OUR Father.

Matthew 6:7-14
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do:for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them:for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye:Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Galatians 4:6

A new look at an old soccer ball

The Daily Pulse (Saturday, June 21, 2014): I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. Psalm 77:11 (NIV)

Don't park in my driveway!

The Daily Pulse (Friday, June 20, 2014): A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 (NIV)
