This song I translated many years ago, and it was used by TenSing Bergen on their visit to England. However, it was 30 years before I actually got to see the recording that this is part of. My version has 3 verses, but I have only been able to find two of the verses of the Norwegian original which is by Arnold Børud and was published in the CD Tvers III

John 15:13 - Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. Nothing demonstrates this better than Yeshua’s Passion. I wrote this years ago, as a poem that described the event in greater detail. Turning it into a song took much more time that it did to write the poem. Upon my poetic journey he taught me many lessons. I was stiff necked, and fairly set in my ways, but God knew how to break down my palisades and speak right to my heart. This song began as a poem, But the Lord inspired me to put it to melody and music. I learned a lot from this lesson, and that may have been it's only purpose, but I like to share the lessons that touched me, just in case anyone else needs it too. Have you ever met a stranger that just seemed different, more enlightened than the average Joe or Jane? Someone who was there when you were in need, but once your problem was resolved, they disappeared? There's a song by Alabama called "Angels Among Us" that touches on the "here today, gone tomorrow" stranger who guides us through a storm. A song about faith and love, and a choice that takes both to correctly make! As physical beings we tend to conduct our lives from the surface. Our five senses keep us bobbing on that surface with the buoys. So it's difficult for us to see the depths of a choice like this! It sounds better if we make the opposite choice, but if it's an angel delivering a message from God, and we see and hear that angel, the choice must be made the way it is in this song. After my NDE in 1992, God inspired me to turn my love for writing lyrics into a love for poetry. He would give me an inspiration, and I'd sit down at my computer and start writing. I'd have the whole poem mapped out in my mind. I knew exactly what I wanted to say, until God (my Muse) nudged me in one direction or another. By the time I reached the end of the poem, it was nothing like I'd planed. Having contemplated suicide in my youth, I felt that I should warn people away from the edge of that cliff. With this poem (Junk) I wanted my main character, a young woman standing on a cliff's edge, to encounter the spirit of someone who actually did throw themselves over the edge. I wanted the lost soul to scare her with their own post suicide experience. I thought it was a good plot line, but God had other Ideas.
