There is Hope! Matt Kornegay, Founder of Reach Recovery shares his story of how he overcame his chemical addiction to heroin for 10+ years. His story gives necessary key elements and components that it takes to live a successful and sober life free from drug abuse.
Before describing the new things, Matt first shares how he made bad decision chasing drugs & alcohol. At 23 years of age, he made a life changing decision to serve Christ and change from his old ways.
For the last 10 years, he has been in recovery. Matt describes recovery as a life-long process and has to be worked at daily, consistently, and faithfully.
What has been made new?
1) Spiritual life -- the most important thing made new is my spiritual walk with Jesus Christ. It is the main contribution to my successful walk in recovery.
2) Family -- they help you to overcome obstacles by believing in you.
3) Career / Job -- having a steady job has helped me to achieve and overcome obstacles while learning to be persistent in my work ethic.
4) Future Goals & Outlook on life -- having short-term and long-term goals has helped me to be successful in my walk of sobriety.
How did all things become new?
I entered a 6 months Christ-centered regeneration program for addicts. There, I surrendered my life to Christ & have walked daily in His power.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" 2 Cor 5:17.
