What started out as a normal Christmas Eve was soon upset by the disappearance of Joey, the neighbor boy. He was seen earlier that evening, but then he was gone! While Mom and her two children, Michael & Bethany, tried to concentrate on reading the Christmas story, Dad helped Mrs. Kurtz look for her son. Where Joey turned up was a surprise to everyone! Mom pointed out that 2,000 years earlier, there was a missing Child, too.
The story can be done with five speakers. It includes eight choir numbers, a ladies’ song, and one for children. There are a number of places for optional solos. Difficulty level is average. My desire is that the listener will make a decision about Christ – the missing Child. The choice is to accept Him or reject Him…and that choice will determine where each person will spend eternity.

While Shepherds Watched centers around the story of a shepherd named Omer and his rebellious son, Benjamin. The initial conflict between them points out the two main themes of the story: (1) God sent His Son as the Lamb of God to pay the price for sin; and (2) Even in difficult times, God is still in control. The story ends with them at the manger seeing Christ just after He was born. The drama can be performed by only three people. They can sing the solo parts in the songs, or the children’s choir and additional soloists can sing all of the music. Several of the songs have optional two-part harmony. Performance time is 30-35 min.
