I subscribe to a magazine called Worship Leader Magazine. I am not a worship leader myself, but I love worship music and I sing on worship teams. One of the cool things about the magazine is that it comes with a sampler CD of fresh non-mainstream songs. By artists you have probably never even heard of. But, they are every bit as good as the mainstream artists. I have discovered so many new artists that I really like. Subscribe to the magazine. It also contains lots of articles by people like Darlene Zschech, Matt Redman, Lincoln Brewster, Jeremy Camp, etc. There are lots of ads in the magazine, but they are actually pretty interesting and useful, unlike most ads. Lots of good technical info, too, for you techies (I am one of those.) Not cheap, $100/year, but maybe you could get together with a couple of other team members and split the cost. Well worth it.
Oh, the video. This is from Volume 127 of the SongDiscovery CD. By a group named Austin Stone Worship. I know nothing about them, other than the fact that they are very good. I usually superimpose the song lyrics over my videos, but I decided to omit them this time as unnecessary and probably distracting. But here are the lyrics:
This group is quickly becoming one of my favorites, mainly because of their freshness and uniqueness. This song is from their self-titled debut album. If you're wondering about the band name, it comes from John 17, where Jesus several times uses the word "they"; he is talking about the disciples. The band members consider themselves to be disciples, too, thus the name.
The song is called "Over & Over Again." Written by the band.
From their album "Directions Home", this is a song called "The Climb." I'm not positive about exactly what "the climb" means. I'm pretty sure the original authors and Miley Cyrus did not view it as a Christian song, but I do. The song mainly talks about the struggles we face in life (which Jesus promised us in John 16:33) and how we will always have another mountain to face. But in the end we have our reward: salvation. So I think "the climb" is simply the road of life. For Christians, the end of that road is rewarding. For others, well, there is only uncertainty about "what's waitin' on the other side."
Excellent album, by the way. It's a collection of covers of songs that are favorites of the band members. This one was written by Jessi Alexander and John Mabe.
Dr. Dobson recommends establishing solid relations with all of the parents in your neighborhood, so that lines of communication are open and adults can feel free to speak unemotionally with each other about their (and others') children's behavior, when necessary.
