A Prayer for Wanting Marriage
“Then the LORD God said, ‘It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.’” Genesis 2:18
God,
You know my heart and its deepest longings to find love that leads to marriage. I want only to marry someone who seeks to bring You glory in every aspect of life. I pray for wisdom and a sound mind, able to discern the eternal difference between someone who tells me they know about You, and someone who knows You. Lord, I don’t want to settle for anyone just to have someone. I want Your choice to be my choice, knowing who I marry will one day also be a parent to our children, so I trust You to lead and guide me and give me discernment. I trust in Your perfect timing as I wait and watch in anticipation of seeing Your plan unfold according to Your will which always has my best interest in mind. Thank You for the beauty discovered in a relationship rooted in Your love, grace, and mercy.
Amen.
Reflection: Prayerfully consider if the desire to marry is from a place of want or need. Do you need another person to validate your worth or to avoid loneliness? Ask the Lord for help in healing any broken places in your heart. Only He fulfills us, fully satisfies us, and validates us in the person of Jesus Christ.

A Prayer for Wanting a Family
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” - Jeremiah 29:11
God,
Your plans for me are good, giving me a future and a hope. I pray Your plans include the opportunity to one day enjoy relationships with a wife and children to nurture, love, and cherish, but Your sovereignty is my joy and resting place. I admit to feeling pressured to rush the process or put plans into motion for all the wrong reasons, but You come alongside me and tenderly quiet all the what-ifs and fears. I rejoice in knowing You are not a Heavenly Father who toys with emotions or plays guessing games but cares for me, my relationships, and my hopes for a family. Waiting feels like a delay, but Your timing is perfect as You make everything work together for my good.
Amen.
Reflection: Many assume that waiting for God’s will to come to fruition means waiting months or years, but it could also mean waiting a day or even a few minutes. However He chooses, it is perfect and good. While you wait, what are three scripture verses you can memorize to bring peace in moments of doubt?

A Prayer for Wanting a Dating Relationship
“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?” 2 Corinthians 6:14
God,
I want to be in a dating relationship firmly rooted in purpose and intend to date only those I would consider marrying in the future. I ask for wisdom in finding a person who loves You with their whole heart, mind, and body. Someone devoted to Your Word and actively involved in their church. Help me see past any facades that would lead me astray and give me and the person I date strength to remain sexually pure. I praise You for the loving guidelines You set in place for my protection⏤spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Above all, Lord, I want a dating relationship that reflects Your selfless love and commitment to bringing God glory, not to have someone who will make me whole or happy because it’s in You I find my satisfaction and joy.
Amen.
Reflection: None of us are perfect, but it’s wise to prayerfully consider the traits of a person you want to date (Do they remind you of Jesus' characteristics?) List them in a journal and add a scripture verse beside each one. Before saying yes to a date, read your list and verse and prayerfully reflect on your desires for a godly relationship now and in the future. Then, and only then, give your answer.

A Prayer for Wanting Friendship
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25
God,
I’m grateful for the gift of friendship yet admit to struggling to develop relationships willing to dive below the surface—but Lord, I want and need this kind of friendship to grow and stretch my faith. I desire mutual friendships in Christ that encourage, love at all times, and stir up Your love for our good and Your glory. I pray for friendships marked by acceptance and a love so deeply rooted in truth that hard questions aren’t avoided but embraced. Show me how to become the kind of friend I desire and give me the bravery to approach others instead of waiting for them.
Amen.
Reflection: Consider ways to “stir up” love and good works in a new friend.

A Prayer for Wanting a Mentor
“Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good…” Titus 2:2-3a
Wonderful Counselor,
Your Word is my delight and my counsel. I’ve sought answers to life issues from well-meaning friends, magazines, and social media, but their advice left me empty. As I continue to grow in Your Word and seek to cultivate a life of faithfulness, I ask that You lead me to a godly, discerning mentor who finds joy in pleasing and serving You, Lord. I pray for a mentor who savors Your Word and regularly feasts at Your table instead of settling for crumbs. I want a mentor whose life is patterned by faithfulness, self-control, and steadfastness while guarding my heart against the temptation of putting anyone but You, Perfect Counselor, on a pedestal. Lord, all the qualities I hope for in a mentor are qualities I want to mirror in my life so that one day when someone prays for a mentor, You will send me. Amen.
Refection: Titus speaks specifically to older men and women, but spiritual maturity isn’t bound by age, as reflected in 1 and 2 Timothy. Prayerfully consider specific ways to continue maturing in your faith so you will be ready to mentor when needed.

A Prayer for Wanting a Relationship with a Seeker
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
Savior,
I want to follow Your example and become more intentional in pursuing relationships with the lost, the confused, and the seekers. I tend to stay close to my circle of Christian friends, where I’m accepted and don't have to defend my beliefs. Lord, please forgive my lack of urgency in sharing the Good News through relationships. Help me find strength through the acceptance found within the Body of Christ and trust through You to give me the only words needed to develop a relationship with the lost.
Amen.
Reflection: Some believe living rightly before unbelievers is enough to fulfill the Great Commission. It is a key factor, but knowing and having the courage to share scripture is vital. What scripture verses would you like to memorize to prepare for future opportunities?
