According to White House visitor logs, President Joe Biden’s personal doctor, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, met with Parkinson’s disease expert Dr. Kevin Cannard from Walter Reed Medical Center earlier this year. As the New York Post reported, O’Connor met with Cannard, who specializes in movement disorders, and two other unidentified individuals in January.

Dr. John Atwood, a cardiologist from Walter Reed, was also present at the meeting, but the identity of the fourth attendee remains unknown.

As noted by National Review, a Whitehouse spokesperson explained that the visit occurred at the White House, where Walter Reed specialists regularly consult to treat military personnel stationed there.

Cannard previously co-authored research on Parkinson’s and is currently doing research on the disease with partners at Vanderbilt University, according to his profile on Doximity. Symptoms typically associated with Parkinson’s disease include tremors, movement difficulties, speech changes, and impaired balance, which progressively worsen, often starting on one side of the body.

According to The Christian Post, the news of the meeting comes after Biden’s poor performance at his first presidential debate against former president Donald Trump last month, where his speech appeared slurred, and he struggled coherently. The event sparked widespread speculation about Biden’s mental health, including calls from within his own Democratic party to reconsider his candidacy as the party’s national convention fast approaches.

After the debate, the White House confirmed that Biden consulted O’Conner about a cold he had during the debate, which had not been previously disclosed.

Additionally, no medical evaluations have been reported since the president’s annual physical in February, which concluded that Biden was fit for office. The results of any cognitive test were not disclosed to the public.

CNN medical analyst Dr. Gupta has suggested that Biden should undergo a comprehensive neurological examination and make the results known to the public, expressing concerns about Biden’s confusion and altered facial expressions.

However, during an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Biden dismissed the necessity of an independent cognitive test, claiming that his performance at the debate was merely a “bad night.” He also dismissed suggestions that he should undergo a separate neurological assessment, contending that his daily activities are sufficient cognitive testing, The Guardian reports.

As reported by The New York Times, Biden told over 20 Democratic governors during a recent meeting about personal adjustments to his schedule, including his plans to avoid meetings after 8 p.m. so he can get more rest.

During the meeting, Biden commented on needing more sleep because “it’s just my brain.” Some attendees interpreted this as humorous, while others found it concerning.
