Pastor Greg Laurie said this week his team will hold a massive one-night evangelistic service in November at the same Utah university where Charlie Kirk was assassinated, and is praying that thousands will come to Christ.
The pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in California, Laurie said he and his team had previously made plans to hold a Harvest Crusade evangelistic event in Salt Lake City in 2027 but decided to bump it up after Kirk – the founder of Turning Point USA – was killed Sept. 10 at Utah Valley University.
Following Kirk’s murder, Laurie said, Utah pastors told the Harvest team that the region needed the gospel.
“They said: Yes, come and do the crusade sooner. We need help. We need hope here in Utah,” Laurie said.
The Harvest Crusade will be held Nov. 16 at Utah Valley University.
“We are going to do an outreach for one night on Nov. 16, on the very campus where Charlie left this life to enter the afterlife,” Laurie said. “So we want to go to that campus and turn on a radiant light, the light of Jesus Christ, the message of the gospel, the same message that Charlie Kirk believed. And we want to tell people that there's hope in Christ.”
The one-night event will be broadcast around the world, said Laurie, urging Christians to pray for the crusade each day at 3:20 as a reminder of Ephesians 3:20, which states that God is “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”
“Let's all pray every day until this crusade happens for a great move of the Holy Spirit and for thousands of people to come to Jesus Christ,” he said.
It won’t be the first Harvest Crusade this year. In July, a crowd of 45,000 packed Angel Stadium in Anaheim to hear a message by Laurie and top artists in Christian music. Some 6,500 made professions of faith – both in person and online. The response at that Harvest Crusade was so substantial, in fact, that the fire marshal closed access to the field due to overcrowding.
