Haven't you been in situations where you needed to count on God, but didn't think you could? This tension is the battle between faith and unbelief. And unless you understand this tension, you will make a wreck of your relationship with the Lord.
But while it would seem so, unbelief is not the exact opposite of faith—at least not in the way it plays out in our daily lives. While faith has its substance in our spirit (our divine nature), unbelief has its substance in our flesh (our human nature). And both conditions can be (and usually are) present at the same time.
It is critical to your progress (and to your sanity) to understand that just because you are dealing with unbelief “does not” mean that you have no faith. On the other hand, just because you have faith “does not” mean that you won't have to deal with unbelief.
Don't let your unbelief convince you that you don't have any faith. And don't get so cocky that you begin to think your faith in God won't be challenged by unbelief.

That flood of negative thoughts and emotions which comes against you when you’re trying to have faith in God is called unbelief. Unbelief lives in your flesh. Faith lives in your spirit. Please don't consider unbelief as just a lack of faith—because it isn't. Great faith and great unbelief can go on at the same time. And if you don't treat them as separate conditions you will be unable to bring your faith up to the level that God intends for you.

Because God is not intimidated by what we face, we don't have to be intimidated either. He will walk us through our circumstances in a demonstration of His love toward us. He has even made it possible for us to have joy and peace as we go through our circumstances with Him.

When we add a pain‐killer (in any form) to any request we make of Him, we have mixed two different systems. And we have neutralized faith, because faith in God plus anything else is no longer faith. The “anything” we add to faith is called “unbelief” in the Bible.

The Garnett Family, composed of Mom and her 3 daughters, left the judges amazed with their audition on Britain's Got Talent. Their soul-filled rendition Jess Glynne's 'Take Me Home' sent actual goosebumps up my arm. WOW!

13-year-old Erin woke up sick and groggy one morning. She eventually collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. After further investigation, it was discovered that the family car was left running overnight, due to the keyless ignition failing to turn off. Carbon monoxide seeped into Erin's room, causing her sickness. Thankfully, Erin was treated before more harm could occur but now her parents are warning everyone of this hidden danger.

When a 19-year-old woman became trapped underneath a train, Justin Schneider did not hesitate to step in. This brave man reached out his hand to help this poor woman. And his kind words of support help restore my faith in humanity.

Ms. Andrews is a beloved teacher and when she shared with her class that she lost her cat their hearts broke for her. So they decided to surprise her with a big hug and two new kittens! And I'm crying with her over here.

This poor dear had no idea she was about to fall into a pool. But lucky for her these amazing homeowners risked their own safety to save this poor deer. And seeing her recover warmed my heart. God bless these amazing people!

Bob is a 7-year-old rescue cat that has a set routine. So when his owners noticed him acting strange and being more vocal, they knew something was wrong. And when they followed Bob to the garage they discovered the frightening truth. Thank goodness Bob was there!

Perie and Floy Bigler were on their way to the movies when Floy collapsed out of no where. She knew she was having a stroke, but everything went black. That's when Perie called out in desperation and a Good Samaritan nurse came out of no where to help. So managed to revived Floy until help arrived. And this Godly couple knows that this was a miracle!

When faith in God appears to result in failure we tend to question God before we ever question ourselves.
How have you responded to your disappointments in faith? Have you lowered God's standards so low that it is as likely for your prayers to be answered as it is likely for the sun to come up each morning? Or have you just grown cynical?
God doesn't want you to lower your standards for faith to the lowest common denominator, and He certainly doesn't want you to be a cynic when it comes to having faith in Him. But He doesn't want you to become an optimist either. He wants you to be a realist, knowing His true nature.
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (1 John 4:7–11 NKJV)
Run all of your assumptions about the reasons God hasn't responded to you like you wanted Him to respond through this “Love Filter.” In other words, if your assumption doesn't fit with the reality that everything about God is about love, throw your assumption out the window.
